My name is Matt, and I'm an art director with over 20 years of graphic design experience. I've worked in entertainment, publishing, public affairs, PR, and content marketing. I'm fluent in both digital and print.

I started my career making flyers for the bands I played in, and after a day’s work as a designer for GetMusic.com, you could find me in a rehearsal studio, plastering the East Village with posters I’d designed, or playing shows at some of New York City's most notable venues.

After the Dotcom crash in 2001, I was pulled into the publishing world where I started as an art assistant, and rose to be art & production director of a regional shelter magazine publisher. Over the course of five years, I designed hundreds of layouts, advertisements, and oversaw prepress and print production for a monthly magazine and a seasonal bi-weekly magazine.

2009 led me back to digital at a small D.C.- based agency where in addition to designing microsites, banner ads and print ads for advocacy campaigns, I was thrown into video content. Despite having no experience in video, I leveraged my contacts in the video and post-production worlds to learn the ropes, eventually producing video shoots with six-figure budgets. I’ve produced videos for the National Restaurant Association; Estée Lauder Companies; Wellpoint Blue Cross Blue Shield (with Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser) and was associate producer of Madonna of the Mills, the Umbrella Girl Media documentary which premiered on HBO and at TriBeCa Film Festival in 2012.

In 2013 I was back in the world of freelance. My client list included the Bonnier Outdoor Group, where I worked as a designer on Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, and Shot Business magazines. I also worked with regional powerhouse Sactown magazine, designing native advertising, marketing, and sales material.

In 2015 I joined the content marketing team at Time Inc. as an art director, collaborating with some of the industry’s top creative talent and garnering recognition from the Society of Publication Designers, Financial Communications Society, American Illustration, Communication Arts, and the Society of Illustrators, just to name a few. Surviving takeovers by Meredith Corporation and Dotdash, I stayed for almost eight years.

If you have a need for art direction, print or web design, video and post-production experience, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.
