Goals: Unify brand aesthetics by aligning website and magazine designs. Simplify navigation, enhance SEO, and optimize the publishing interface for a seamless editorial workflow. Efficiently migrate a database of 1,000+ articles and assets to a new platform with minimal disruption and no downtime, ensuring new design seamlessly accommodated both existing and new assets.
Navigation
We designed the navigation around 30 common medical topics chosen by the editors, with a mega-dropdown for easy scanning and filtering. Additionally, we added a label for each article tile that could navigate to that topic's index page. To boost search visibility, we changed the URL structure to include the new topics.
Search
We discovered that many users wanted to go straight to the search function but couldn't find it, so we designed a prominent, robust search function where users could type in a search term or choose items from multiple lists.
Magazine Page
To prioritize user engagement, we introduced a dedicated magazine page. Here, readers can effortlessly download PDFs of the latest issue and seamlessly browse through past editions.
Podcast
We wanted to put Proto’s podcast within easy reach of users, giving them the ability to listen right on site without having to go to a third-party platform.
